As a nephew of an International Space Station Electronics Engineer and the grandson of the Vice President of a major electronics communication company, it makes sense that Christopher Ian Brooker was often found rummaging through the electronics in his grandfather’s basement workshop. By high school he had fully disassembled and reassembled his first electric guitar, built a custom pedal of his own design, and begun his dive into audio production and sound manipulation. The techniques evolved, college ensued, and his project Where Are We was born from his education in analog audio production and his deep seated infatuation with experimentation. The first album, And.Who.Are.All.These.Mystics, was highly received within the local community and was then followed up by his EP, Engineer’s Handbook Vol. 1, which was named Best Of by Creative Loafing. This eventually led to a slew of film scores for The Demon’s Rook, Tether, and Bad Blood: The Movie, which won several different awards at film festivals internationally and earned a glowing write up in the LA Times. He then collaborated with director Tim Reis to produce his next single/video Not My President, which garnered 30k+ streams on Spotify and dozens of write ups in North American and European blogs. It was with this new found love for the overlap between audio and video, that he began to experiment with what would become In Continuum, his live a/v performance and corresponding album. This new inception uses video projection, light art, and deeply integrated aural stimulation to bathe the listener in an experience somewhere between particle physics, the outer reaches of the cosmos, and the meta physical mind deep within ourselves.
